Iván Naranjo ( MX )
- vídeo + sonido
Iván Naranjo’s (Mexico, 1977) music results from his interest in the expressive possibilities of musical situations that involve flexible structures, self-similarity, room acoustics and assemblages of (in)different musics. Most of his work is written for chamber ensembles, but it extends to sound installation, computer music, live electronics and music for film and video.
He is a member of Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte (SNCA, 2014-2017 / 2021-2024).
During the previous two years, Iván Naranjo has collected a large number of short videos, mainly from Mexico City—moving images of visually exceptional situations occurring in the ordinary. In Lugares Sutiles, this material appears juxtaposed and superimposed, creating an aggregate narrative. Naranjo’s electronic music provides an additional perceptual layer, reinforcing and/or complicating the visual.
